Biography

Dr Amal J. Johnston has completed his PhD from University of Zurich, and postdoctoral researchas a Roche Fellow from ETH Zurich. Following a fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, since 2013, his team based at the Heidelberg University investigates evolutionary and developmental aspects of germline development. He aims to understand epigenetic facets of higher-order networks inclusive an evolutionarily ancient Retinoblastoma pathway in extant model systems including a model plant Arabidopsis. His recent merits include an Emmy-Noether fellowship of the German Science Foundation (DFG) and outstanding alumnus award of the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
